White female from Arkansas
512 MCAT (C/P: 128, CARS: 128, BIO: 129, PSYCH: 127)
4.0 overall GPA
Biology major, Anthropology minor
I would really like to get out of Arkansas. I am disappointed as I was scoring 515+ on my practice FL but test day anxiety really got the best of me. I believe my stats are more than enough for UAMS (my state school) but I'm not sure where else I have a chance as my extracurriculars are not necessarily competitive for out of state.
300+ hours of anthropology research (this is my passion but not sure if it will hurt me since it is not biology/chemistry focused)
150+ hours of volunteering (includes hosting and running a 2-day blood drive 3 years in a row at my school, some work in a free health clinic, tutoring a refugee, and work at a community center)
An additional 250 hours of ACT tutoring that was volunteer work but I did this with kids and families I knew in my community so I am not sure how to list this on my app since I was not under any type of volunteer coordinator and scheduled it myself.
150 hours of shadowing in the Emergency department, 30 hours of other shadowing including surgery, OB/GYN
I also am vice president and cofounder of Humanity First at my school as well as treasurer of another organization and was involved in cofounding the first recognized equestrian team at my university.
My dream would be a California school as my brother is moving there and I'd love to join him. I looked into UCLA and USC but I know it's unlikely my app would stand out there.
