Just thought I'd note that I technically finished my sophomore year, but could graduate in three years. However, I will be double majoring and doing a traditional 4 year undergrad. Double major would be Biomed sciences/classics.

Florida resident
cGPA: 4.0
MCAT: 32Q

Research experience
: 1 and a half years in a neuropsych lab @ 10hrs/week (chart/stats lab, not bench). Promoted to research coordinator this year, being responsible for training new assistants and coordinating projects with my mentor. Three first author poster presentations (one at a national professional conference) and a manuscript currently in submission.

Shadowing experience: 300 hours (50 ENT, 50 neurology, 200 oncology)

Volunteering: 200+ hours for a public school district, 50+ hours for a cancer center

ECs: Founder and president of my school's debate team, drummer for a surf rock band that has opened for national acts.

As it stands what are my chances in general for following school list? I would most likely add another poster presentation or two and maybe work experience considering I am only starting my junior year.

Schools:
Florida schools (in state for me):
U of South Florida
U of Florida
Miami (Miller COM)

Out of state:
Emory
NYU
Boston U
USC
Brown
Georgetown
George Washington U
Any of the U Cali schools (however I believe they are notoriously tough for OOS)

I left off any top 10 school, although not sure if Emory/NYU/BU would still be a reach for me? Would I even stand a chance at places like Columbia/Yale/Stanford? I also left off the low tiers in Florida.

Much obliged.

It must be rough being in your shoes. You probably won't get a single acceptance.

Your shadowing experience (considered a passive observership) looks terrific, but you are weak in active clinical experience where you interact with patients. What is your role at the cancer center? Did you plan to continue there during the next year?

Agree with above post. Generally speaking, your chances are good. Be careful not to mess up your GPA, especially from now until the time you graduate. Med schools are also looking for that thing that is unique about you and that would add to the diversity of their class. The cookie cutter path to med school doesn't always work. So don't forget to work on whatever it is that makes you stand out and highlight those qualities in your application and interview.

I will continue my role with the cancer center (scheduling conflicts prevented me from doing it both of my first two years) and this is direct contact with patients receiving treatment. Games, socializing, serving/eating dinner with them.

And my shadowing experiences were more than just "observerships." I talk about my oncology experience in my PS.
