A little background on me: have failed the exam 2x and am now required to take the exam by the middle of October by my school. I have the following materials to use at my disposal: PASS videos, Kaplan Videos, BRS Path, Phys, you name it I got it. I was told by my school that I would be allowed to take the exam in December but now they are requiring me to take it in October. I have had some personal problems that I have been taking care of as of recently, but am now in the clear to focus full-time. The first time I took the exam, I got a 150 and then my second attempt was a 177. My biggest problem has been truly understanding the material. All my life I have had to read things over and over and over again and literally memorize books in order to pass exams. I am finding that I cannot do this for Step 1. Do any of you have any advice for a rote memorizer on what materials to use and how to go about passing Step 1? Ie. how do you get yourself out of the habit of obsessing over every little thing? Thanks for all your help in advance.

well, listening to goljan's audio lectures is probably not a bad idea. it only covers pathology, for the most part, but its value in learning how to understand the material and think about the questions seems like it would be applicable here.
