Hello, long time lurker here,
I have a few questions that I'm hoping a few of you would be kind enough to answer;
<3

1) I'm thinking about asking for one of my letters of recommendation from a doctor I've had the pleasure of working with during a military deployment; only slight concern is, he is Australian, licensed in Australia, etc.
I'm guessing this won't be a problem, but do any of you have any input on this? There is no look-down of any sorts of foreign doctors from ADCOM by any chance, I hope?

2) I've read that you can 'submit' your application before you have an MCAT score processed in your application... I always thought that you were unable to submit an application until certain requirements that included the mandatory MCAT score submission was fulfilled....
I'm confused..
Can anyone be kind enough to elaborate on this? And also recommend as to what I should do? I am taking the MCATs in August, and everything else (LOR, Transcripts, etc) should be done by july at the latest;
What is the absolute fastest way to have my application sent out? Is it as simple as submitting my grades as soon as the grades come in? Or is there some other way where I submit my application and then upddate it with my MCAT score later on?..

3) Military transcripts; I've searched on SDN and others, and I realize that for AMCAS, it is mandatory. However, for AACOMAS, while I do not see any official writing that states I need to have it submitted, I've read on one of the forums on here that a sdn member called up aacomas that that member was told that they should have the military transcripts included in the application; I tried calling last night and this morning, but I was put on hold for en eternity both times and I hung up (I have limited minutes on my phone).
Any input on this??..
I already requested an official transcript request to aacomas via JST for my sending the official transcripts to aacomas, but now I'm having trouble inputting the courses..
Do I list the courses as a professional school or UG? I think is professional, but If I do that, it only lets me input courses from one term; to forego this I would have to input the courses as UG courses, but I'm not too sure my military couts as UG....
So, any advice on this?..

4) and lastly, anyone have time to bash away at my personal statement?..

Thanks SDN; You guys are a great resource (surprisingly better than school advisors..)

You can submit application before mcat are you applying md or do?

I'm applying to both; just a few MDs and many DOs;
any tips? =o

Have you chosen any schools and I would start the application and get the transcripts, I am applying DO but because we are at Bragg I am staying close to the area

Hopefully you have more than one doc writing you an LOR. Have you shadowed? LORs from science faculty?

I never recommend submitting application before a first MCAT. You can submit with a pending MCAT, but schools will not look at your application until scores come back.

The MDs I'm applying to are 4 SUNYs and Uniformed.
DOs, virtually every single one on the eastern side of the U.S. excluding Mich; so, NC area a nice possibility! =D

Thank you for your responses! I have One confirmed DO and two 'most likely' MDs, one anatomy prof and two physics prof, but I was wondering if an Australian doctor would help in the "Doc LOR" aspect, because I did work mostly with that Australian Doc, and he would have good things to say.
The reason why the the two "MDs" are most likely is because one is overseas with unreliable internet connection, and another is far and not very computer literate; I'm making efforts to get around this =P

Send it - no problems.

Make sure that DO letter is sent too.

I would think the lor would be fine
