45 days?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If you have received an acceptance on Dec. 1st, the majority of schools will ask for a deposit by Jan 15th.

BU only gives until Jan 5, (35 days) and asks for a $2,000 deposit. Then another $1,000 by Feb 5.

Talk about pressure!

You know, the more I hear about BU here, the less impressed I am by them. I'm sure you can get a good dental education there, but it really sounds like the place is just plagued by a complete lack of consideration for students; and finding out that they do it to people who aren't even enrolled yet...yeesh. I'm glad I'm not there.

That may be a reason why they have to accept so many people.

BU is run like a corporation🙄
This may enable them to stay afloat when other institutions hit financial difficulties.

Unfortunately, they aren't the only school run solely like a corporation. Of course, all higher-learning institutions have to keep an eye on their bottom-line, but BU and a few others seem to be notorious for eyeing the bottom-line while keeping the students visible only in the periphery.

I was reading this post and had to laugh very HARD to myself....

I conversed with a certain ASSistant Dean at a certain dental school and this guy had the nerve to tell my wife and I that the dental school was like running a "medium-sized business/corporation." That's not why I got into dentistry. Sure made us feel like we were bottom priority.

FOR THOSE WITH MULTIPLE ACCEPTANCES: PICK YOUR SCHOOL WISELY!!!!!!

When I interviewed there, I got a really good impression from almost every aspect of the school. They seemed extremely student orientated, and the faculty was really nice. All of the dental students I spoke with really like it there. I guess they could just choose the few dental students that actually do have a good outlook on the school, but to me it seemed genuine. Personally, I got a good vibe.

The one huge turn off about BU though is the cost. They estimate the first year total expenses to be over $71,000😱 (ove $50,000 tuition). Why in the world does it cost so much?

Just to clarify, I got a good vibe from my BU interview. I just think their deposit policy is too pushy. I still have a UNLV interview and Nova interview AFTER the 2,000 is due.
