I thinking you need more science professors.

2 science and 1 dentist (required by Houston I believe). That would leave biopsy and chem. However, it is recommended you use a general dentist letter. They prefer general dentist letters.

You don't need that many letter of Recs lol. I only have one science, one dentist, and one non-science. Just get at least one science and you will be golden!

Some schools require 2 science professors, so I would recommend getting at least 2 science, one dentist, and one random (unless you do a committee letter). I majored in something non-science and had my advisor write a letter, so I ended up scrambling for another science LOE. I had to send it directly to few schools.

Why not look at the ADEA book, pick out some schools you like, and look at their LOE requirements - and try to cover as many schools as possible?

Your school not have a committee?

Not mine. Apparently we used to, but did away with it.

Have no idea why, but I kind of liked it this way as I had my department chair write one for me.

Eh well no biggie. They each have their merits.

So if I have the general dentist, biopsych prof, and chemistry prof, should I use the oral Surgeon or another academic letter for #4?
I like the three you chose. As for your #4, well, it depends. Schools differ in what they want. If I remember correctly.... Nova required a letter from liberal arts teacher... but ASDOH required a letter from a community service leader. And I think loma linda requires clergy member letters. Since we aren't you and don't know where you are applying, it can be hard to call. (though most schools seem to accept letters directly sent to them).

Take some time, and look through the ADEA book, pick out some schools you like, and submit what they require/prefer.

Oh, and I hope you took a class with the Chem teacher! Otherwise I would recommend another science letter from a person who taught you. I had a letter of rec from the biology research professor I worked with for over 4 years, but some schools still insisted I have a letter from a person who taught me, even for a semester... so look at that requirement as well.

My health committee took up to 5 letters, but only wanted a second dental practitioner if you already had 3 professors. I still wonder if having a pedodontist and a prosthodontist writing on my behalf left some adcoms scratching their heads.

Point being, I think they want more academic recommendations than practitioners.

Mine accepts 10 so I guess it matters more about the school. But yeah 1 practioner is fine I think.
