4th year scheduling - how long is interview season?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
There are occasionally some programs that interview into the first week of February, but that is few and far between.

Caveat - I can only really speak with certainty for anesthesia

December and January were by far the busiest for me, but I had 4 interviews in November and 1 offered in February.

When is the end of the interview season? I was guessing end of Jan, but not entirely sure. Anyone get interviews after that?

Not sure if there's anything to it, but some of my buddies applying for other specialties (OB, IM) were actually attending interviews in early to mid-October.

My first one for EM was late October. Then had some in November, several in December, and several in January, but some of my programs had dates running into the first week or so of February.

You'll probably have programs interviewing between mid-October into the first week of February with the bulk of spots being in late Nov through the end of Jan. Try to schedule things you can miss for interviews without repercussion during Dec and Jan so you can get rotations checked off AND interview.

Definitely. OP, save vacation time for actually taking a break. Interviews aren't taking a break.
