How far in advance should you send in your application for 4th year rotations away from your school? At my school you set up your entire 4th year on your own, and our school is useless when it comes to advising about it.

I've contacted schools and gotten some apps in the mail, but seeing I am still in my 3rd year I think I am jumping the gun a bit.

Thoughts?

A lot of the hospitals have dates they state at which they will start accepting applications. Check their websites, app materials. If they don't say, then call. I think typically, it's a few months beforehand.

most places start accepting applications in march to april for summer elective rotations. each site has their own forms to fill out and hoops that you'll need to jump through, so you should probably start getting that stuff ready in jan-feb.
