Or should I say how many am I supposed to apply to?
Missouri Resident
3.93 GPA
3.89 sGPA
- Haven't taken DAT yet but will at the end of July (based on practice tests...somewhere between 18-22, most likely 19-20 is gonna be where I'm at)
- Pretty good ECs (university sport, coaching), LORs, shadowing, a little research...but nothing that would make me stand out too much I don't think
- applying to UMKC, SIUE, Baylor, San Antonio, Iowa, and Louisville
If I get into one of the first five, then I'm set, and I think I could live with Louisville, but I'm afraid of missing out on all of them for one reason or another.
-And I know the SIUE, Baylor, SA apps are all longshots because of OOS, but I have a lot of connections to the schools as well as the areas, have visited the schools, talked to faculty about my OOS and other issues with my chances, etc. (I don't mean to sound like an !@# with the whole "connections" part, I just mean I'm not just taking a shot in the dark at these schools for no reason, and I wouldn't be applying if I personally didn't think I had a chance)
- others I am looking at if I don't get in one of the above schools, problem is I don't know if I really would go to these schools
-- Creighton, Kentucky, Marquette, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Florida
Should I bother applying to any of the second group of schools? I honestly just don't see myself going to any of the schools in the second group if I were to be accepted for one reason or another. I feel like I should apply to more schools since I keep seeing posts about people with pretty good GPA/DAT scores who applied to 15+ schools getting one interview and waitlisted or something along those lines, but I don't know what I would do if actually faced with the decision of one of these schools or waiting another year and getting into the school I really want to go to.
I mean honestly, outside of me messing up really, really bad in the interview, I would think that I should be able to get into my state school (UMKC, assuming of course that I get at least an 18-19 on the DAT). I know their is no such thing as a sure thing and you can never be too sure, but I don't think I'm going to blow the interview that badly. What do you guys think?
Thanks 👍
