Hey there,

I was hoping to go to ireland for a 5 year program next year, just wondering what my chances are:

Overall highschool average 85%
Grade 12-
90 chem
93 bio
80 math
95 eng
91 exercise sci
86 nutr

Grade 11
92 bio
82 chem
56 math (missed a ton of class because of injury)

Extra circular

A ton.. student council prez all sorts of med related work research and working with like 34 different organizations

Im in my 3rd year of undergrad with an 80 average,

What are my chances with the irish schools ? Ucd, trin, rcsi, ucc

Would I be considered for the 6 year program?

I think you are sort of borderline. You would have to explain the math 56 if you were to apply to 6 year programs. I think your chances at TCD and UCD are quite low. RCSI and UCC might take you. Its worth an application if you really want to go, do you mind converting your 80 average to a GPA? Your extra-curriculars are good though, but do you have volunteering with care organizations or hospitals?

Hey,

Yea I worked in the emergency department for 5 years in our general Hospital and with a palliative care institution for a long time with terminally ill patients and in a doctors office, lol and at a mental health facility.. plus an HIV/ AIDS clinic, and with kids a lot of work with kids lol and a bunch of other things including diabetes research, and running my own camp for youth in conflict.

My university gpa is around a 3.5, did bad in a few courses but my bio physics and chems are all done well. My math mark in g9 and g10 are all in the high 90's (96, 98) really screwed up g11 though.

What do you think I could do to improve my application for ucd and tcd?

Have you taken the MCAT? I mean honestly at this point you have what you have there doesn't seem to be anything you can improve. If you do take the MCAT and score well you can use that to improve your application as well as have a shot at the 4 year programs.

I am going to write the mcat this jan. If I write the mcat and do really really well, like 11/12's across the board with a really good written, how does that change my chances for UCD/ Trin?

It would improve it for sure.
