Some schools have 5 year programs that guarantees a seat in medical school, but their first year they have to do some classes do to a low MCAT score... what do you guys think of this?

Have not heard of this for any DO school.

I know most DO schools have 5 year program .. cause between year 2 and 3 you do a one year OMT fellowship. In return you get a break on tuition durring 3 and 4 the year.

What you are talking about is MD programs... in rare schools.. sorry not heard anything here.. But if anyone has more info.. than do share.

I think COMP and CCOM had the 5 year options (I mean the OMM fellowship). I heard about it during the interview.

I think most (if not all) of the school have it. Maybe it was something to do with AOA agreement with the schools to produce more OMT practicing physician. One that choosed to do this works durring the year on campus teaching students OMT in the lab. I think it is a great deal, if you enjoy OMT, in return you get ~60-70K of tuition breaks for one year of work.

Some schools have a "post-baccalaureate" program that allows you to take classes with medical students that may or may not be counted toward courses you would take in medical school. There is often a need to reinterview to enter the class, but a priority is given to these students. If successful, you would complete in 5 years.

Such schools that do this include TCOM & OSU-COM.

MSUCOM has a 5 year program, but here it's just taking a lighter load during MSI and MSII and therefore getting it done in 3 years instead of 2.

that is a good point... I think NSUCOM also has that... but that is more for those who can't take a heavy course load. Family reasons or special arrangements.
