You can tell a good suit from a cheaper suit. $500, depending on who made the suit can go a long way.

I bought mine from limited and I love it. I actually bought it for a pageant interview but I knew that I might need it in the future if I got a pharmacy school interview. It costed about 200-250.00

Got mine from Banana Republic, friend got hers at BCBG. Both of ours were expensive, but likes someone said earlier, it's a sound investment and it'll last past the interview. However, if you want something affordable, you can try Express, or department stores like Macy's, Dillard's, Nordstrom's, etc.

I totally hear you on that one. A lot of womens suits are catered to 40-50 yrs and as a result have completely unaccurate sizing (i.e. a true 4 is actually a size 8, etc). I went with a Tahari pant suit which I purchased at Macy on clearance for $140. I really like it because it's simple suit so I can interchange it with different shirts and accessories. Also, It doesn't look like a mom-hand-me-down and it fits better. Anne Klein and J. Crew also has some nice styles for 20-30 somethings.

I went to Casual Corner and spent about $200. I would have spent more if the suit had not been on sale because it fit perfectly! Which is a rare occasion when you're 5'2"!
And I got some GREAT shoes from Macy's for about $50!

I went to a Jones-New-York outlet and paid just under 200$ for a 600$ suit! 😀
And YES! It is all about the power tie! 👍 There is no question, being well dressed certainly boosts your confidence.

I go to the gym quite often and literally a suit that I bought a month and a half ago does not fit well anymore. This seems to be the case with all of my suits. So for me, I just get a good suit that is on sale, that looks good, or just looks expensive, lol. Plus, I have really long arms for my height, so it makes it really hard to find a suit that fits well anyway.

Hey I totally understand your situation. What you could do for your arm length is buy your suit 2 or 3 sizes larger than you need, and go to a tailor. Yes it will cost a little more, around 50-60$ on average, but you will still save because you buy less expensive suits. Since your in great shape, with a tailored suit, it will look expensive= tailor made!! 😎

Forking out the money for a great suit is definitely worth the investment. I paid around $400 for mine, and definitely got a compliment on it from my interviewer. Antonio Melani at Dillard's is great because you can buy the outfit as separates and they don't look like old ladies should be wearing them. Good luck!

I don't think you can ever go wrong with a good suit. I bought one a few months ago, a custom-tailored Joseph Abboud, it was a little more expensive than some of the prices mention here. But I still love it, and it'll last for years.

I bought my suit at a department store for $80.00 with shoes for $25.00, felt comfortable at the interview, and was accepted. I think a good suit is an investment but not necessary for a positive outcome, especially if you could use the money for something else (like supp. app. fees!).

When I went to my interview everyone was wearing a black suit! I was so happy that I didn't wear this bright red suit I was thinking about using instead of the new black one I bought. Personally I would stick with what you said: black, blue, or gray. Although there was someone at my interview day who wore a black suit with a light pinstripe pattern.

The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and confident in whatever you choose to wear.

As long as it looks professional and you feel good in it, it doesn't matter. And as far as the money goes, if you can spend $50 and feel like a million bucks, that's good enough. A $500 suit is NOT necessary for a pharmacy school interveiw. If only it were that simple to get in. 🙄

My suit was black with a small white stripes; I also wore a bright blue collared shirt underneath w/ the collar & the sleeves showing... I got a few compliments at my interview, and I ended up being accepted. I just felt like adding a splash of color to all of the blacks & grays!

There are different kinds of plad...
It could be OK but is hard to picture. There are some very hideous plads...
then there are very nice ones...
Make sure you match your blouse to have the color that appearst the LEAST in your plad...

I bought a very nice suit at Nordstroms. Is grey but it has a very thin stripe pattern in bright pink, and the lining is bright pink.
It looks very professional and is awesome.
You can certainly find something for women very nice that is not blue, gray or black exclusively.
I have been an interviewer at my job in the past, and yes, they do notice what you are wearing.
I looked at detail. It will never make or break a candidate (unless it was shorts or something outrageous)
However, the women in the workplace would notice, and it makes a nice polished statement about the candidates' attention to detail.

You are not going to interview for graduate school everyday. So enjoy it!
You have worked hard to get that call!

USI, you're right I have seen some awful plaid, too.
This suit has very thin lines. When I went back to get it, I found out that alot of ppl must have liked it because they were sold out. The store said I could do a charge-send from another store if it was available. Well, I have a black suit as a back up, if I don't find it.
