I am filling out my secondary to AZCOM right now and I was wondering how serious you think that they are about the 500 words or less statement. I just written an essay with all that I wish to include and it came out to 576. Please let me know if you think that I should cut it down, or if you think that they won't be able to tell the difference/not really care. thanks a lot for you input.

Cut it down. I woudn't worry about 510, but I'm sure you can cut down a bit if you were to just be careful of phrasing...I cut about 100 out of my PS this way last year.

I think you should most definately cut it down to 500. I don't think its setting a very good precident if you don't follow their rules from the beginning... They shouldn't be to excited about investing their money in you if you refuse to follow their directions, so I would suggest cutting it down! Take out any meaningless sentences that don't add to your point, "I love working with patients" "I am a very compassionate person" "I really want to be a physician"... things like this... Good luck!!

wow, man you must be writing alot about yourself. Just keep it simple. i dont think mine exceeded 350 words.

Remember, keep it simple and to the point.

I had the same problem with the word limit, because I tend to be really verbose(most of my undergrad essays were five PAGES over the recommended minimum). My AZCOM essay was about 523. I think that as long as it all fits on a single typed, 12-point font page, that it's that big of a deal. I really think that the ADCOMS have better use of their time than to count words up.

Wow, you guys must be really long winded. I had a hard time saying too much at all. I think mine ended up at about 250 words. It may be because I said most everything I wanted to in my AACOMAS PS, and I didn't want to repeat myself too much...
