Just received this number from corporate. This is stated as the average number of RVUs a Pathologist does, which I'm unsure, but may be "specific to my region". Comments from the peanut gallery?

Sounds about right for a pathologist based in a hospital doing general pathology. Some sub-specialites can accumulate signficantly more in an year (Dermpath, GI path)
 
Yea, based on a presumed average of $50/rvu, that's in the $280k range. I feel like I could do 5700 rvu in 4 hours/day. Maybe I've become accustomed to a heavier load, but if an "average pathologist" works 50 hrs/wk, does 5700 rvu and makes $280k/yr, I feel like there must be a significant amount of downtime/inefficiency. I don't like inefficiency.
 
A typical day of more than 15 plus twelve core prostates with all the PIN4, Erg P10, multiple trays of GI with upfront staining, 70-80 Cytology(mostly urine with urovysion), probably is a lot of RVU's
 
Why don’t you just join the toothpaste factory and tighten the lids for a living? Or manufacture widgets?
 
What is the rvu equivalent of a 88305, ihc qual etc? Like 1:1?
