hey all

im a junior in college, about to graduate with a psychology degree (BA). I decided pretty late in the game (last semester) that i wanted to go to medical school. I already started taking a few of the premed courses in addition to my psychology classes, but i'll never make it through physics, calc & o-chem before i graduate, as scheduled next spring.

My question is: Should i do a formal post bacc after i graduate, or stay a 5th year in school and finish up the required courses before i apply? My gpa isnt stellar, but i could probably bring it up significantly within the 5th year. If i graduate spring 2005 as planned, it would probably be around 3.0. Would it be worth it for me to stay the 5th year as an undergrad, or would a structured post-bacc program be better for someone in my situation?

thanks!

Is 3.0 your overall gpa or your science? If its your overall, you may need to do something formal since it would take a lot of classes to bring that up in only one year, its pretty low. Maybe look into a masters program.

If that's your science gpa, I'd just do the 5th year and then apply, maybe take a few upper division sciences with the premed courses to help boost it. Hope that helps.
