hiiii guys.. well i just took my dat today and came out with an enormous headache. i'm so glad its over!! I am fairly happy with the majority of my scores. the PAT was much harder than what I had practiced for, and like everyone said, the angles were impossible!!! I must have guessed on almost every single one of those!

PAT 17 🙁
QR 19
RC 20
Bio 22
GC 21
OC 27 😀
TS 23
AA 22

so what do you guys think? how bad is my pat score going to hurt me??
My AADSAS cGPA 3.83 and sGPA 3.76 (but that will go down a little after the january update..)

oohh and here are my practice scores if you guys want to compare. They're really different..i studied for 3 weeks, about 4-5 hours a day.

Top Score
PAT 17/ QR 18/ RC 15/ BIo 17/ GC 17/ OC 14
PAT 19/ bio 17/ GC 18/ OC 19/
PAT 16/ qr 18/ RC 18/ Bio 18/ GC 17/ OC 18

Acheiver
PAT 15/ RC 20/ Bio 16/ GC 17/ OC 17
PAT 15/ QR 19/ Bio 15/ GC 13/ OC 17
RC 21/ Bio 15/ GC 14/ OC 16/

sorry, a lot of these tests are incomplete.. but as you can see, i never got a twenty on any of these exams! So don't give up hope if you're not doing steller on the practice. just keep moving forward! if anyone has any questions, please post.

Thanks SDN-ers for everything

good job kokobean 🙂 now you can relaxxxx for the rest of the summer sigh i wish i could say the same but mines in august :scared:

great scores! i take the DAT on wednesday (july 5) and i plan on getting around the same... what study materials did you use besides topscore and achiever? i probably won't utilize anymore studying materials... i've studied for 1.5 months, 5+ hours a day using kaplan and topscore; and i'm getting so bored now!! i've actually taken days off this week just to go get drunk. but i'm just trying to make sure i've studied with the correct materials. i'm doing pretty well on topscore also (17-20) across the board. i didn't get achiever because i know of people getting 22+ without it, but i don't want to become too overconfident before the actual test, though, ya know?

Congradulation Kokobean, I hope i can ur scores, too. my question is was the reading comp complicated, or were you able to find the answers, and how was the QR on the test, and one last thing, did you see any hard calculating GC problem???
Thanks and have a great time,

wow, congrats!

I HOPE that i GET similar results.....

and to the previous post....please, were there many gen chem calcualtions, and HOW tough were they....thank you!!

now enjoy. 🙂

haha yeah we do. we actually have the exact same AA and TS. yannow what they say, great minds think alike 😎

anyway congrats!

thanks everyone! ok now to answer you questions..

QR: pretty simple. I only had 1 trig question I was confused on, but everything else was algebra, fractions, area. I'd say just know kaplan and some simple probability rules and you'll be fine. its pretty simple.

RC: I thought I would have done better on this section, but I think the third reading killed me. I usually read the whole thing and take notes, and then in the end I either have the answers in my notes, or just remember it because I understand the organization of the essay. On one of them though, they used huge vocabulary and just totally confused me.. I didn't do much to study this section besides topscore and acheiver.

GC: pretty similar to topscore. know how to do that, and you'll be fine! nothing complicated at all. Know things like molarity, change in boiling points.. pv=nrt... etc. Kaplan covers everything you need to know!

All I used was topscore and acheiver pretty much. Kaplan I read the day before as a refresher.. but i never used it as a prime source. I bought schuam's bio and gen chem and didnt' even open it! waste of moneyyy...

and btw since I was so squeezed for time(i'm takign summer courses), I didn't really use the practice exams like most people on here used them. I didn't take them to see how prepared I was.. but more as a study tool. I took those 1-2 weeks into studying. So that might explain my below average scores..

good luck guys. I'm sure you'll all do better than me. i'm still bummed out about my PAT score

congratulations, you are for sure in somewhere. SDN is not representative of average scores at all. with those scores, and a masters degree in chemistry, you're definitely getting some acceptances. congrats again

come on, you are a chemistry major and got an 18 in orgo chem? i don't know why this happens a lot. many other biology majors get 17 in the bio section. this is kind of weird.

Ya I got an 18 on Orgo. I am getting my masters in P-Chem. Its been 4 years since I took Organic so I dont think an 18 is that bad considering I dont use it. Just wanted to clarify that.

You will be fine! don't worry...they are great scores and a great GPA to go along with it!

Hey Kokobean,

What did you use to study Biology? Im studying everything I can get my hands on. Did you use textbooks, focus on achiever, kaplan, topscore.
Thanks, let me know.

Oo biology was tought to study i thought! There's so much material to cover. I used my campbell textbook, some kaplan (pretty much just read this the DAY before my exam), and topscore and acheiver. You really don't need to know details. just general, basic knowledge.

have you discovered yet if our pat score is "acceptable?" i know a lot of SDNers have high scores so my perception of what average is a little skewed! I looked on predents.com and some of the stats for some schools seemed awfully high (ppl were averaging 19/20 for PAT). Just wondering if you got any input! 🙂

oh god i know. I was pretty content with my scores.. and then I saw some DAT's on here. 😱

I just looked on the statistics for the entering class of 2005 for all the schools across the nation, and my PAT is below average for several of my choice schools, although there are some others with averages of 16/17. You might want to look at schools like Boston.. I was told they do not look at PAT at all! So I might just add them to the list..

All we can do is hope. 😳

Wow, you did great!
Congratulations! 🙂

I am planning on taking my DAT in August. I am enrolled in Kaplan and ordered TopScore.

My weakest section is Orgo and I was wondering how you studied for it - what tools did you find the most useful?

Thanks! Good luck with Applications!

hey tweety! It's funny because I've gotten A's in my general biology classes and general chemistry classes, but B's in BOTH semesters of Organic Chemistry, and yet, it's the one I scored the highest in! It was REALLY basic, so even if you think you're weak, as long as you get the general idea of the reactions, you'll do GREAT.

I used my Organic Chemistry textbook by Bruice. It has the reactions covered at the end of each chapter, so I just looked over those. I already understood the mechanisims for them, so I didn't have to do any real memorization. I think all my questions were about reactions - I didn't get any conceptual..
I got pretty low scores on Acheiver for O. chem.. I think a 13 on one.. so the real test is easier. Just use topscore maybe some kaplan, and your textbook!

what! how is this possible. all were about reactions!
congrats by the way. 🙂
messenger.

Thanks kokobean!
I'll do just that!

Good luck to you!

kokobean, how did you study for your organic section? was kaplan enough? were there a lot of conceptual questions?

Kaplan prepared me enough I thought. I also went over topscore and made sure I understood all those reactions. All my exam questions were.. Reactant + Reagent = ? .. No conceptual really.

good luck!
