Hey guys, I have visited this many times over the past month while studying for the DAT. The advice given has been tremendously helpful. As a result, I feel that it would be fair to post my scores in "passing it forward".

PAT-19
QR-20
RC-21
BIO-21
GC-17
OC-21
TS-20
AA-20

Most of the scores were in the range I was aiming for aside from gen chem which I struggled with. Anyways, time for the breakdown. I actually did the Kaplan review course throughout my spring semester but it ended up being lost in my classes and activities. After my last final, I studied for about 1 month with the following materials.

Kaplan: I read through the entire big blue book and did all the quizzes, subject tests, and practice DAT tests.

DAT Destroyer: I did about at 50-100 questions for each of the natural sciences section.

Crack the PAT: I was using the Kaplan material but I felt it was preparing me well enough, especially hearing what my friends had to say after their official DAT. Overall, I felt that the software was a pretty accurate representation of the real thing.

Schaum's Easy Biology Outlines: Just skimmed over the mini-book to finalize on some bio concepts a few days before the exam.

So that's pretty much it. Just 5-6 hours per day with the first two weeks focused mainly on reading through the material and taking subject tests. The final two weeks I was just mainly doing practice tests/problems/etc. If I missed a problem, I would go back and try to understand why I missed it. On a side note, I had a friend who practically used the same material and got a 25 AA. The big difference was he studied about 10-12 hours per day. So I'm glad to be done! Hopefully that 17 on gen. chem won't hurt me. Thanks for the all the advice SDN! Best of luck to those who are studying/preparing/taking the exam.

Congratulations !! all the hard work paid off.
just couple questions tho

1. were you getting around 19 in CDP as well?
2. your friend who obviously did tremendously well... did he study for one month too?

by the way I wish u all the luck getting in to the dental school 🙂

joeeeey3,

Thanks! I appreciate your kind words.

1. I was indeed getting around a 19 on CDP as well. I paid for the most basic package with the 5 PAT practice tests. I ended up taking 4 exams and these were my scores each time.

Test #1-18
Test #2-19
Test #3-18
Test #4-19

2. As for my friend, he studied for about a month as well too. Talking to him, he said he studied about 10-12 hours per day starting at like 8 AM every morning. He went through all the DAT Destroyer problems, CDP tests, and Kaplan tests. All the reading material came from the big blue Kaplan book.

Hope this helps!
