sup, i made my up my mind to cancel 6 of my interviews. so that should open up some spots for ppl waiting for an interview on this board hopefully 😉.
Upenn, boston U, Tufts, Stony brooke, Pitt U, New Jersey U, hope they give you guys the interviews and if your wondering i chose NYU 😉 .

don't take this the wrong way, but i'm in shock that you would turn away interviews at schools such as Upenn to go to NYU!

whatever floats your boat.

one applicant's back-up school, is another applicant's first choice.

i wanted to attend UPENN, but after realizing that its the same price and its also late in the game, i ended up making that decision. plus is Pennsylvania even a competition for New York City, lol 😉

I think I am also turning down a school for NYU. You and I seem to be among a very few number of students here to deem NYU of great potentials.

Also, NY city offers a lot of options for me like if I fail at becoming a dentist I will just seek a career in broadway (yeah I am a jolly guy but not in a weird way).

Seriously, most people who grip or feed the rumor mill about NYU are those that get their information based on hearsay and on mindless, idiotic posts on SDN. Every school has it's disadvantages. The only disadvantage of NYU is the tuition, that's all. As for it's large class sizes, that's debatable as there are numerous people who benefit from this.

NYU has made leaps and bounds and has been extremely progressive in terms of didactics and research. When, every so often, a member on SDN mindlessly labels or insinuates NYU as being a safety school, it reinforces the false rumor of NYU- which allows several new members to buy into this ridiculous idea which continues to feed the rumor mill. It is sad to see this as these are members who probably have yet to visit, been interviewed, or toured the school.

How can a hefty tuition due to living expenses (NYC, hello!) deem the school a safety school? Somebody please show me substantial proof in the last 3 years how NYUCD fits into this safety-school mold.

Agreed. I'm finally glad to see people sticking up for NYU. I've been accepted and am really really leaning towards it. I thought the school was the great. Yes tuition is high, but on their website they have a whole separate link on how to live modestly in NY city and not to break the bank. The school does offer lots of advantages. I have another interview coming up that I'm going to attend only b/c it's not going to cost me any money in travel/hotel. But odds are, i'll be seein you guys next year in NYC!!

Late in the game? I thought I had heard that Penn accepts a steady stream of applicants well into March ...

its still risky and why would i pay an extra $3000 bucks for travel expenses/hotel, when i am guaranteed a spot in a great university. i don't know about u guys but after this application process i am broke 😉
