Hi everyone, here is my situation.

Basically, I did 4 years of undergrad work in biology from U of Saskatchewan in Canada, i was about 1 year short of graduating. Then I moved to U.S. (U of Kansas-lawrence) with my family, and due to lack of course equivalencies, I did another 3 years at U of Kansas.

From what I see on the AAMC website, it asks you for your GPA during your freshmen, sophomore, junior, and senior year, and then finally post-bac. So, how do I fill this out if I done 7 years in undergrad, with the 1st 4 at another foreign university?

my GPA at U of Saskatchewan (96 credit hours) was a 3.5/4.0
my GPA at U of Kansas (72 credit hours) was a 4.0/4.0

Also, can anyone clarify to me how much more weight is the science/BCMP GPA compared to cumulative GPA? In canada, we don't make such distinction, so does BCMP GPA count way more than cumulative GPA??? Thanks all!

You enter all your courses. I seem to recall that the first year's worth of classes (~30 credits) is counted as freshman, the second year's worth are sophomore, the third are junior and all else are senior. Makes sense for someone who might have gone half time for several years but your case is an odd one. Any application reader is going to see 78 credits in senior year & know to look more deeply at the "transcript" portion of the application and the names & dates of schools attended to get the big picture. No worries.

Thank you for answering promptly, so doing 7 years undergrad (168 credit hours) for a biology degree will not put me at a disadvantage right? They should be able to see through that I transferred to another university and basically had to somewhat start over!.

Can you answer also answer my 2nd question, how much more weight does BCMP GPA have over cumulative?? At U of Saskatchewan, my cumulative was a 3.5/4.0, but my sciGPA was only a 3.2/4.0. But in canada we make no such distinctions and its ur overall cumulative GPA that counts! Thanks.

The AMCAS application has a pretty involved matrix with 7 columns:
Academic year/BCMP gpa/BCMP credits taken/AO* gpa/AO credits taken/Total gap/Total credits taken.

After showing the data year by year there is a total, then a line for post-bac, another total, and an additional line for graduate school courses.

So, the data can be sliced and diced anyway someone wants to look at it.

*AO: all other

Tommy: Did you hear I finally graduated?
Richard Hayden: Yeah, and just a shade under a decade too, all right.
Tommy: You know a lot of people go to college for seven years.
Richard Hayden: I know, they're called doctors.
