Thanks SDN for giving me so much info!

Ok, my stats first!

PAT 20
RC 18
QR 16 (I know it is low, but this seems to be the trend)
Bio 18
Gchem 22
Ochem 20
TS 20
AA 19

For Bio, I have studied the destroyer and achiever several times. While those materials prepared me well with the concepts, the actual exam had at least 10 problems I had never heard before (such as detailed knowledge about the sweat gland, ruminant digestive system, and the diff b/w estrous(?) and menstrual cycle). I should have used the Schaum's Bio outline, like everyone here told me to. Oh well, 18 ain't too bad.

For OC and GC, I felt the Kaplan was enough. Easy questions.

RC : about 1/3 are tone/implication/intent questions.

QR: Most of them are word questions which wasted a lot of my time.

While my scores ain't great, I won't retake the test. Also, it is really too late for a retake anyways.

PM or post here if you have any questions.

I took the DAT today

Wow are you serious? 10 Problems out of the blue? Any advice on what topics to focus on? thanks.

I don't recall Schaum's even covering those topics in that detail, mysnitch. I guess Campbell's bio is a must.

Yes, about 10 problems were out of the blue. At least, look up the topics I had (the ones I mentioned) in your textbook and Schaums.

congratulations on being done. Your scores are good, i wouldn't worry so much about the math.

Actually, those topics are covered in Schaum's. I am sure that they are covered in Campbell too.

In Schaum's,
look up page 220, and page 173. As for the topic on sweat gland, I will have to look up more but I am sure that most books have it.

what fine details of the sweat gland??? How much detail is there? They want us to focus on one F-ing gland in the entire world of biology?? This test is unreal........... Honestly, I wish I took the MCAT.

well I think there might be something wrong with the test , do you think there could be the system's problem, many people have the same peoblem lately, 16 's on QR and high scores on everything else.

Oh maybe, but in my case I know I did bad because I ran out of time and randomly guessed on a lot of questions. Hopefully you're right though!

I meant the fine details of the sweat gland. 😀

I looked up further and there actually are fine details of the sweat gland in the Schaum's. Just look up the back of the book "subjec index" and look for the "Sweat gland." It says it has them in page 242 and 209. I think these are more than enough.

Perhaps you should rethink dentistry...

I took my test yesterday and also got a 16 QR.. i couldn't believe it. I don't understand how i could have missed 20 questions to get a 16. I am really starting to wonder if there's something wrong with their system. I mean EVERYONE i hear is getting a 16.. what's up with that?

I'll let you know this Friday if there is something wrong.

I'm terrible in math, so if I get a 16 it will be a miracle 😀

I was wondering if anyone could give me insight into whether or not I need to retake the test. My gpa is alright, 3.75, but I hear that my scores are probably too low to get in. I am already consumed with school and rowing for the year so I've decided to go ahead and apply and just see what happens.
