Hey guys,

I am applying to MPH schools for Fall 2007. Please feel free to give me some advice on the list of some schools to apply that I've narrowed down....

But, first my stats:
* Concentration I'm applying to: Health Behavior & Education/Promotion
* Interned at a public health community services which also gave educational seminars to local high schoolers about safe health practices.
* Voluntary experience at Little Company of Mary Hospital (well at that point, I was thinking of med school... but that's beside the point now as I'm solely focusing on a career in Public Health).

Now the schools I'm thinking of applying to:

* Colombia Uni
* USC
* UCLA
* San Diego State

That's it for now... do you guys think I may have atleast a *decent* shot at applying to these schools? I am so stressed out about this application process, especially having to apply to EACH school individually.

Oh and do you guys [btw I'm seeking replies from those who've BEEN THROUGH the application process] recommend I look into OTHER programs/schools [not listed above] that have good/strong programs in Health Behavior/Education????

PLEASE help!!! :scared:

No replies? Come on guys... help a brother out!!! 🙁

Hi there!
So I just received my MPH in june 2006 from ucla in epidemiology...applying to med school...but anyways my gpa out of undergrad was a 3.35 with a huge upward trend after my lower divisions. My GRE was 710 math, 490 verb. I got rejected from Berkeley, Stanford (MS Epidemiology), and johns hopkins (MHS), accepted to San diego state and UCLA. I also applied to Columbia but didn't finish the process with them after they asked for my most updated transcript (I had gotten into UCLA at that point). You have a great shot at San Diego, and if you do decent on GRE I am sure you can get into the health promotion program at UCLA (I did epi so they requre a high math score). anyways let me know if you have any other questions! (oh and i have no idea about the other schools you are applying to) Good luck!

Are you interested in dental school as well? I just finished my PhD at the Univ. of WA and was on a dental/craniofacial training grant there. It's multidisciplinary and embraces dentists and craniofacial researches interested in health services, as well as other disciplines so you might consider the MPH there. I don't think there are funds for MPHs on the training grant but there is the breadth and depth of faculty -- its known as one of the best dental public health research institutions in the US. The general health services MPH program is well established at the Univ. of WA though I don't know much about it as I did my degree in epidemiology. I'm sure you'll get to a program in with your stats. Good luck.
