$800 Dental Assisting Class

I signed up to take a 5 week Dental assisting class through my community college, but I am wondering if I am wasting my money.
I am non-traditional student so I thought that this will be great for me.
This will allow me to be certifed as a Dental assistant, but I don't or need the certification.

I thought that it usually takes a year of education to become a dental assistant. If not, then this would be a good way to get some hands on experience. But make sure you check with a couple of dentists first to see if they usually require longer training. Ask around about the program at the community college. They should have some info on job placements. Will this 5 week program make you state certified???

this is great if you tell the adcom's you did that specifically to get some hands on experience b.c. you knew you wanted to be a dentist....I think it's well worth it if you have the dough to spend
