Tell me about it!
One of my BIO professors... I asked for a rec and handed him an envelope with all of the forms in it @ December 2009.
You know when he finished it?
Last month... @ June 2011...
My application was just transmitted July 8 to all the schools I'm applying to, with transcripts sent and DAT soon to be sent sometime next week.
One very big problem is that my app is being held up by ONE letter of recommendation.
I spoke with my professor in March. I already emailed my professor the documents in late April, sent two reminders in May and June (he has not responded to any of my emails...), personally went to his office a week ago (last Tues) to remind him and had to re-print all the documents because he lost them and now I have no idea if he has even started on it...I'm pretty stressed out =\.
I don't want to be pushy but what should I do??
I was having this problem too for one of my LORs. I had e-mailed him multiple times with no response and made a couple phone calls too. I ended up writing a nice thank-you card and buying a gift card for a coffee shop and brought it to his house to preemptively thank him (really to guilt him). LUCKILY for me, he wasn't there, so I gave it to his wife, who really got the job done. He had the thing submitted 20 hours later. Give some kind of preemptive gift and they'll feel so bad they'll git er done.
for the LOR, does the science professor has to be a current one, can we ask a professor that we had like two or three years ago?
So my professor finallllyyy turned in my LOR electronically. Does this mean that the new letter is not going to be sent out to the schools until the next mailing? Or will it be sent before?
It will be sent out with the next batch at the earliest.
I took the DAT in January and got an AA of 21 (24 QR, 21 RC, and 20 TS). The percentile associated with my AA is 97.2%. I only have a 3.0 GPA, largely due to problems that arose when my grandfather passed away from cancer. I have research experience, shadowing experience, volunteer work, and even teach the DAT, OAT, and PCAT for Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions, along with other community service works. My dad is a dentist (not sure if that helps). I know my GPA is ridiculously low, but will any school give me an opportunity to prove myself academically?
Update...it's been over two weeks. During that time, my application has been transmitted to the schools, meaning they have it in their hands.
I left a voicemail and was hoping for my professor to respond back, but he didn't. My sister told me to be patient and don't be pushy, but I don't understand why there is such a lack of communication! I understand how professors can be busy with classes and research, but one simple phone call or email will suffice and make me relax and be more patient...I'm anxious because I don't even know if he has even started it yet.
This makes me sick to my stomach 🙁
good luck man, i was in the same boat until two days ago.
which leads me to two other questions -- first - it says my mailing date is july the 18th, however im already getting emails from schools saying they've received my application from aadsas. how is that even possible?
and secondly, i listed 4 LORs, but it only shows the mailing date for three (which is 7/18). the fourth one is not listed at all even though it was submitted by the professor already. is it not being mailed out with the others, or is this simply a mistake?
this is what im talking about:

I officially gave up on this professor. I left a message on his whiteboard fixed to his door asking if there's a time I can talk with him again, came by today and the message was erased. I don't want to make assumptions, but I also left my number so I believe he is thoroughly pissed off/annoyed.
Talked to my pre-health advisor and he suggested to be patient and go look for other professors. Went through my entire transcript and basically emailed every professor that I got an A in. I already have two professors email me back and already on board to write me a very quick letter 👍.
Word of advice to those still waiting on letters...have backups ready and don't be victim to a professor like me. Time is very precious in the application process.
