I think that’s a good time to take a break. Ask a couple of people to help you proofread your app for typos and enjoy your time offI was wondering how the timeline works for secondaries over the summer. I know secondaries don’t get sent out until July 1. I’m thinking about submitting June 1 and spending most of June abroad. Would this be feasible or will I be bombarded with secondaries in early July? Should I be pre-writing secondaries during June? Overall, how busy is the summer during application season?
Pre-write before you travel. You'll thank your past self

Pre write and take your vacation in August. Trust me.
I would say it is safe to travel between December 20 and January 3rd. Highly unlikely that any school will be interviewing during that period and it is long past the deadline for secondaries.And if you ask when you can travel during app cycle, my answer is you cant.
Many schools will automatically send you your access to their secondary application once they receive notice from AMCAS that you have submitted an application.
You probably should be doing this now (we're laying some of this out on Becoming a Student Doctor):
* Have an awesome semester and activities
* Make a school list and pre-writing secondaries (hoping they don't change the prompts due to ChatGPT)
* MCAT scheduling and prep if you have not done so, taking by May/June
* Casper/PREview prep, take by May/June to be "early" complete
* Personal statement, should be on the 50th draft version by now... 🙂
* Who's writing your LOR's?
* Getting your IA statements in order
* Professional face shot and clothes fitting/purchases
* Apply for FAP if you are eligible
* Look for scholarships
* Cheap places to travel

Adding: Make sure if you decide to go on vacation in the summer at the start of application season... stay away from the internet if you want any chance to actually enjoy yourself.
I did this and it ended up working perfectly- was out of the country first two weeks of August.Pre write and take your vacation in August. Trust me.
-AMCAS primary submitted first week of June
-CASPER/PREview done + LORs submitted by mid/late June
-all secondaries submitted by last week of July
