Just apply and see what happens.Residency Programs Archive - The American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine (AACPM)
Has JPS always been consistent with only accepting people in the top 25% of your class? It seems unfair since a lot of classes have over 100 people whereas with my program, there are only 54 people in it. Someone in my class could be performing statistically the same as someone from another program, yet that person are competitive enough to receive an externship offer whereas the person in my class would not be able to because they don't meet the top 25%.
Some form of the 25% rule has been in place at JPS for at least 15 years and probably longer. It was there before I went to podiatry school. You'll never open a door at a residency talking about fairness. Focus on being awesome instead.
Yeah, just apply and see what happens.
If you're not ranked top half, probably try other programs to clerk at.
If you're in the top third or half in the class rank, maybe try applying for less popular months (not Oct/Nov/Dec)?
Dum dums and smart smarts go to every pod school... every year.
There is no point to try to justify why you may have done better where underachievement is more common.
How would you have done in MD school class rank, then? 😆
So either way, if you get the month at that program - or elsewhere, just prep and do well... no point in whining.
