A 4.0 from bumbfu(ck shool is worth more than a 3.5 from Harvard. A 4.0 in English or History is worth more than a 3.5 in engineering or biochemistry. Those two facts enrage me. The schools only care about numbers because having the highest possible numbers makes them look the best. There is no real consideration for a Bill Gates or Paul Allen who drop out of college to become the most successful business men in history. Michael Dell was a college drop out only to become one of the wealthiest people in the world. Richard Branson was a high school drop out later to become a billionare. But if you have a 3.4 you may as well not even bother applying to med school. And if you cant get a 3.8 from Harvard you are better off going to Western Michigan University and getting a 4.0. All of this enrages me because it is not about making good docs it is about adding prestige to some medical school.
