So, I've seem to run into a problem here. I'm a senior (sophomore?) community college student, majoring in humanities, who has now decided to become a dentist after much contemplation. I'm really behind the ball as far as pre-requisites go, I've only completed the english requirements if you can even call them requirements. I have read around here that taking CC classes is generally frowned upon and I don't want that to hurt my application to dental school. I've even stumbled upon a nice thread which has informed me that taking summer CC classes is even worse. In spite of all of this, I do have the option of taking Chem I & II AND Physics I & II during the summer before I transfer to Temple University. Here are my questions. 1) Would this hurt my dental school application if I do this, assuming I get A's? 2) How hard does this course load seem, I'd literally be devoting my entire summer to the two subjects. People have told me it might be too much. Sorry for the long post and thank you for any responses!

CC's aren't frowned upon, they just flat out aren't allowed for pre-req's. You must take your pre-req's at a 4 year university. I spent many years at a CC and I still took my pre-req's at a 4 year college. You have to ask the individual schools you are most likely to apply to for their specific requirements. All dental schools are different. You will waste your time and money taking a pre-req at your CC. Take it only if you want to get a head start on Chem/Physics before you take it again at Temple.
