I have 3.5GPA average and having over 120credits, getting my BS biomedical science before applying to pharmacy. Do you guys think if i have a chance if i have a C in Microbiology? 🙁

Getting a C in one class is not a big deal.

You will be fine. You have a great GPA and one class won't ruin your chances.

Unless its OCHEM or Anatomy & Physiology. A lot of schools require B's in those specific classes.

This is completely wrong and misinforming. Sorry. Pharmacy programs require at least a C in every pre req for you to be eligible for admissions. There are currently no programs that require an applicant to have a minimum of a B in any pre req class. Although a higher grade such as a B is preferred, it is not required. I have multiple Cs in my pre reqs including micro and I still got accepted. You are fine.

And even though good grades are preferred, I don't think it will hurt, especially with a 3.5 GPA. If you manage to get the interview, I think that GPA matters a lot less. There are so many other factors that contribute to getting into pharmacy school, and they pretty much make their final decision during the interview anyway.

University of Arizona requires a B minimum in those classes.

" Please note, the Admissions Committee accepts only B grades or higher for organic chemistry and anatomy and physiology coursework."---From their website.

I am sure there are more like that.

Incorrect, I know at least one school that does not accept students with anything less than a B in Ochem and Physio.

That's correct. The more established top pharmacy schools will probably not take anyone with a C. Who cares though, there are 50+ crap diploma mill schools that will take you with a D, why even worry OP? I would be more worried why the hell you are choosing to do pharmacy in the first place and not something else.:naughty:

You'll be fine. I have two C's in my prereqs and still got 3 interviews. One of which is fully accredited.

Only one is accredited? I see no point in going to a school that's not accredited.

#1. The other program is in candidate accreditation which presents those students with the same rights as a fully accredited program. Usually the only thing left is for the school to have a graduated class before they become fully accredited. Look it up on the ACPE website.

#2. I have been working very hard to come to where I am. You may have been lucky enough to been accepted to all fully accredited programs, but I am very happy and feel very lucky to have the opportunity to finally have a chance of studying pharmacy, even if it means the program is in candidate accreditation due to reason above. And by the time I graduate the inaugral class will have graduated and the school will become fully accredited. So just cause you see no point, doesn't mean there actually is no point.

Yes, I agree that I probably would not attend a pre-candidate accredited program. But, there certainly is a point for me to go to a pharmacy program, even if it is in candidate accreditation. Because it means making a dream a reality.

It is not nice to put somone down, especially if you do not know there situation or what they have been though. Show respect and support to your fellow pharmacy colleagues. There is too much negativity on these boards.

There is too much sensitivity on these boards. At no point was I diminishing what you have accomplished. Yes, if the school is going to be accredited for certain, then I agree, that's equivalent to an accredited program. I was referring to those schools whose accreditation is not certain, because my understanding is that even if you graduate from these schools, you can't sit for the licensure exam. So there's no point, since you can't be a pharmacist without a license! Or rather, I don't see any reason for me to attend such a school. Obviously my opinion only applies to myself.

I'm sorry, but this just really is a sensitive issue for me because of all the crap I went through to get where I am, and I like to motivate and inspire people, but it's ok. I'm not trying to start an argument or preach. Some topics for people are just sensitive, and that's the way it is. Besides, you are right that technically it is pointless, but I was taking it personally. Sorry lol 🙂

So, in this case, technically, I receieved two interviews out of four schools I applied to that are accredited and that would lead to a license.

Nonetheless, I still think the OP has nothing to worry about at all. Most schools will not fuss about one C, whether they are fully accredited, candidate accredited, or precandidate accredited. I think a lot of schools would not like the idea of a C in Orgo, but microbio shouldn't cause a problem.

getting one C is not a big deal.; especially, if you've been showing significant grade improvements since the time you've received the C.
