Hey guys, like the title states, I would like to know if a C+ is worth retaking.

I've read some parts of this forum that says retaking a C+ might just seem like your padding your grades.

I have a year of general chemistry and general biology. 2 C+ and 1 D out of 6 classes total.

I'm enrolled to retake the C+ and the D at the undergrad college in which I took those classes.

Also, these classes are from back in 2009 and 2010.

Any thoughts?

Yeah, retake it. It is a 2.3 to your GPA. Also, buckle down, you got a C or below on half of the classes you took. If retaking is padding your grades, who cares, the goal is not to be a tough guy with a low GPA.

ahh.. refreshingly logical argument.

So I have 2 D's (both from Econ classes) that is bringing down my cumulative gpa.

Would you even consider retaking those since they are econ classes?

also, which gpa does DO schools weigh more? the overall gpa or science gpa?

You get a 👍 and  for using the word "refreshingly"

It differs from school to school which one is more important, but I would lean on the side of the sGPA in almost all cases. Should you retake the classes? It depends on your overall GPA, but D's don't look good unless you are Rich Boy and you are throwing them on your Cadillac.

Yes, all D's and F's should be retaken.

I agree, sGPA would be more important in most cases because of the fact that your pre-reqs are largely science courses. A good cGPA doesn't necessarily make up for a low sGPA.

👍 I see what you did there. 😀

you need to rethink how you study or if you can handle the material. slightly above average in 1/3 and below average in 1/6 doesn't bode well for you, esp if its just gen chem/bio. its just going to get harder after this

Well I definitely wasn't focused on my studies during my undergrad, and after working for 2 years post graduation, definitely re-prioritized what is important and what is not.

I've gotten the A's in gen chem and bio, and my grades surely suffered when I wasnt focusing on my studies.

But thank you for your input anyways.
