A call for all med students, a very very special request!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Except the mods could see if she is writing from Poland to see if it's legit.
Hey! I'm actually not writing from Poland, I live in UK and I'm writing from UK 🙂
If you think this is a weird idea then you don't need to take part in it, I understand that for some people that could maybe seem strange (I guess not everyone is that open to people they haven't met before) but so far I've received really warm response from all over the world, with some great advice and words of encouragement for my friend, which is amazing! Sometimes you don't need to know someone in person to have some bond between you (passion for medicine) and to share some wisdom and perhaps few words of genuine support.

I wasn't disagreeing with what you're doing. Just explaining it to EMDO2018, who is a character himself.

Just wondering why there is so much negative comments here. Looks like a lot of med students don't understand that sometimes people can be actually truly helpful and genuine with no specific reason. But if you don't understand that, what's the point of becoming a doctor? Maybe I'm naïve to think that the reason is to help other people.

Dear Doctor Bob, I thought people who study course as difficult as medicine, are clever enough to guess that if someone writes message in English, they expect the response in English. Do you know that in 21st century most of young people from all over the world can actually speak English? Hence, there is no need for my friend to be multilingual and no need for subtitles. But thank you for your concern.

Why did you take away your picture? You were pretty.

We here as doctors don't really understand what "helping" people really means. All we see is dollar signs dollar signs and more dollar signs. You may want to go to the nursing forum if you are looking for this so called "help".

If you want a video of me rolling around in dollar bills and making it rain on "them hoes" I can gladly provide that.

You're so evil. lol.

Now I'm curious, because the rest of the responses make no sense. What was the original post? What was in the video? And where did Poland come from?

Hi Guys! I hope no one will be offended that I posted this here. I have quite an unusual request I guess, but this is something of a huge importance for me, as it's about my best friend. Her name is Claudia and she's been through a very hard time recently, when after couple of years of hard work, retaking exams, studying all days, she finally got into her dream studies- medicine in Poland. Now she's trying to cope with studying very hard while dealing with her own fragile health. I love her to bits, but sometimes it's hard for me to understand her sacrifice for medicine and how she's devoting everything to become a doctor. And I thought that probably only other medical students/doctors will truly understand that and could give her some words of support. Her 24-th birthday is on 22nd October, and I thought that it could be an amazing gift if she received some warm messages from medical students/doctors from all over the world. Just some simple birthday wishes, supporting her on her medical journey. It could be a few seconds simple video made on the phone/computer camera and sent/shared with me, so I could then combine it in one, beautiful birthday message from like-minded people going through the same difficult journey, in different parts of the world . I'm sure it would be one of the most amazing gifts and it would make her happy! Of course I will understand if you don't find time for that. If you could send that message further to at least one person, it would be amaaaaaaaazing!! my email address is: [email protected] Thank you!

Ahh edited OP. The champagne of victory.

Edit: OP is really cute. Put the avatar back up please

Thank you!

You're a really nice friend to your friend.

Does your friend speak many different languages or will you be subtitling the multitudes of responses from all over the world?

Can we record a message in klingon? I'll only consider it if I can use klingon or latin...

That reminds me of the episode of Frasier when Frasier unknowingly blessed his son in Klingon at his bar mitzvah.

LOL. Well done SDN.

I agree with Med student JP and resident DermViser notes above, definitely good to go on OP with that avatar pic.

Come back to me, OP. I'll send you a video your friend will enjoy!

Dear random internet person.
Poland ranks 81st on the list of countries with English speaking populations by percentage of the total with an English speaking population of 33% (thanks wikipedia). So there's was a 2 in 3 chance that your friend didn't speak English. And you were soliciting responses from all over. So maybe people would reply in spanish, or french, or dari, or urdu, etc, etc, etc. Asking about subtitles seemed like a legitimate question.

When you assume, you make an ass of u and... well, pretty much you.
