Hey everyone, I recently got a rush of interviews and one acceptance. I do not have much money to keep interviewing, so I only want to go to a couple. Here are my choices: NYU, USC, Case, UoP, ASDOH, and Temple. I realize it depends on the person, but any advice is greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone can rank them by cost that would be great. I have been doing some research and keep finding great discrepancies on the cost between different sources. Thank you.

Where did you get accepted? That would probably help to compare 👍

All of the schools you listed are very expensive (except maybe Temple, I have no idea about that school). If you the school you got accepted to is cheaper than the others then I wouldn't go to any of those interviews.

Oops, I apologize for leaving that out. I got accepted to temple, which i liked. But i want to be able to compare it to something

I loved USC when I visited them, but I think they are the most expensive dental school. If I were you, I would drop the USC interview... unless you are a billionaire, really want to live in LA, and love PBL. Then USC is the school for you.

Well, what are you looking to compare? Anything besides total cost? Because they are all pretty similar in price, except USC, NYU, and UoP (with cost of living in San Fran) are the more expensive schools on your list. Depending on where you live, go to the interviews which are closest to home. If none of the schools are particularly close, then my two choices would be ASDOH and Case, just to see different parts of the country. But congrats on Temple!! Philly is a great city and Temple has a very strong clinical program.

Go to Case! If $ is a criteria, LA and SF are expensive cities!!

Moneywise I'd cross NYU off the list. Go to temple rather than be 1 of nearly 350 after they take in the international students.

USC is a mixed bag. If you want to be in LA it's not a bad choice. However, pbl does not prep you well for boards, their clinic can be hard to manage and a lot of their student don't graduate on time. It's just as expensive as NYU tuition wise but LA cost of living is a little less.

I've heard great things from those who have gone to case and uop. Uop is not really that expensive when you consider you get an extra year of income or an extra year to specialize.

All I know about az is they have nice facilities.

what do you mean by 1 of 350 after they take intl students?

I would recommend going to your Case interview. I really liked the school as a whole, and they are very ahead technologically. They seem to have a hybrid lecture-PBL curriculum if that appeals to you. And besides what everyone says, I felt safe in Cleveland when I visited.

I will definitely be attending the UoP interview, but I want to go to one additional interview as well.

So you say case is worth going to? Is it P/F? Which schools that I listed are P/F (if any)? Thanks

I agree with you. I have scratched NYU off the list for that very reason. Besides, Temple is significantly less expensive.

May we ask what your GPA and DAT scores are? I am applying next cycle and would like a score to compare myself with! Thanks!

Definitely go to the UoP interview. That school is great! Obviously both NYU and USC are very expensive...

They take about 250 incoming 1st years. They will add about 100 international students to that classes in by their 3rd year. Someone can correct me if this is wrong info.

Jesus you picked like the most expensive schools lol. Go to temple. I'm going there 🙂. Cheaper than all the other schools lol.
NYU: no. Too many students. The dentist I shadowed said don't go there (he is NYU graduated. He owed 370,000 dollars lol) and he said there were too many students). USC? man anything California is expensive.

Most dental schools accept domestic students + advance standing + international and NYU have tons after all those combined. The dentist i shadowed said there were too many students. But i heard NYU has high tech gears 😀

Save some $$ and ask UOP and USC to do your interviews the same week--Southwest from Oakland to LAX is only like $50-60
