Hi,
I am currently working on my CV and apps for this coming year. I just had a logistic question concerning my CV. I had a friend who put in my name to McGraw-Hill publishing company. They are interested in publishing a series of clinical and pre-clinical books primarily by med students. After talking to the lady she is interested in having me author one for EM. Since this is what I am going into, this seems like an awesome opportunity as well as something that will be a lot of fun to do. The thing is that, although I would be working on the manuscript during my fourth year, obviously the book will not be published until next year when I am a intern. The thing is I would really like to somehow get this across for my res apps, I'd figure this could only make my apps stronger as it is not the strongest in the world. Is there a way i could put this. I know on a CV, one should put something that is already published. Thx for any ideas.

I haven't seen this on medical student CVs specifically, but I've seen it on other styles of CV - list the chapter / book under "publications", but instead of the publication date put "in-progress".

Sounds like, in your case, that would stand out enough that PDs would specifically ask about it, allowing you to explain fully your project.
