Hey everyone,

I was wondering if we could get like a day in the life of an anesthesiologist. What time you wake up, how long you're there, atmosphere with colleagues, etc.

I did a search and couldn't find anything.

Thanks

resident's life, or attending's life?

resident's life: out of bed at about 5:15 am, in OR setting up for first case by 6:00 am (5:30-5:45 if you're in a cardiac room), morning report at 6:30 am, greet patient start iv around 7:00-7:10 am, call room and wheel patient back by 7:30 am first case start, fly the plane, land the plane, and then set-up the room and go get the next patient. you do this until about 3:30 - 5:00 pm, depending on the day, until your room is finished or you're relieved for the day. post-op yesterday's patients, check tomorrow's pre-op list (and see in-patients if necessary), discuss tomorrow's cases with your attending, and then go home. usually i get home by 5:30 - 6:00 pm. on a great day, i'll be home by 3:00 pm. on a terrible day, i'll get home around 8:00 pm.

attending's life (at least in academia): much easier, more pay.

thats pretty accurate (coming from a CA1).......whatever the case be....it beats the life of surgery/medicine residents....damn theyre miserable....
