OK, I'm a former SDN junkie from 2 years ago who switched from pre-med to pre-law. I'm not actually taking the MCAT; but rather the LSAT, in a couple weeks. I was wondering what kind of diet you maintained as the big test approached, and what you ate on test day (or what you plan on eating if you haven't taken it yet).

My test is at 12:30 pm - what foods should I eat before this to achieve maximum brain functioning and performance for the following 6.5 hours? I'm not really confident in my eggs, powerbar, and red bull plan. Please advise.

its good to see im not the only person that's anal about things like this. i practiced eating different things prior to practice mcats in order to prepare myself for the actual test day. i found that carb loading helps. the day before i had spaghetti with spaghetti sauce , garlic bread, and an ear of corn for dinner. for breakfast prior to the mcat i had spaghetti with tomato sauce (leftovers, essentially) and a glass of orange juice. during the lunch break i drank a red bull and i had some peanuts along with some starbursts. and i felt really good, i never got tired during the exam at all. try it out.

Eat something that will assuredly CONSTIPATE you for the entire day. You do NOT want to be thinking about taking a dump and crossing and uncrossing your leg for the whole morning section of the LSAT when you feel something peeking.

I heard eating food helps. Seriously, what you eat in the days leading up to the test is going to affect you about as much as the weather outside that day. Calm down.

I would recomend staying away from redbull, coffee, sugar, etc...

For the days before the test, eat well balanced meals that contain alot of fruits and veggies. The day of the test you want to eat foods with a low glycemic index, otherwise you'll get a sugar rush and then crash halfway through the test. For a snack between tests, try nuts or trailmix, whole grains... Nothing sugary, or caffeinated.

The best thing to do is get several good nights of rest before the test. 👍

I was just as obsessed before the April MCAT, I was even planning on keeping a log to record the time between eating dinner and going to the bathroom the next day. Even if you plan everything, chances are it won't go as planned. My advice, is to just be normal, don't try anything new or weird the days before the exam. Don't eat an unusually big breakfast/lunch or dinner, just do what your body is used to. Take a bunch of timed practice exams, and when you take the real thing, think of it as just another practice exam. It's important not to psyche your self out.

Burger King. Number #2 king size w/ cheese. Nothing settles the stomach like a double whopper.

 👍
