Here is my situation nutshell:

I took MCAT in August 2004, scored 37P. My GPA: ~3.2, BCMP: ~3.0. Due to various work and family related issues, I couldn't apply to med school until last year. So far no luck.

I got into some SMPs and I will be attending one of them (most likely Georgetown) barring any divine intervention.

Here is my dilemma: I will definitely reapply to medical schools this year (2007 matriculation), but there is a good chance I will get rejected again. For the next cycle (2008 matriculation), my MCAT score will be expired for most schools, which means I need to gear up and tackle the beast again. Should I take it this August (2006) or next August(2007)? April 2007 is pretty much out as I imagine I will be bent double with SMP work then.

I know the safest thing to do is take it this August, but I am hesitant. Taking the MCAT is always unpredictable, what if I get a lower score and harm my chances this coming application cycle?

Thanks for any advices.

August 2007 for sure, for one thing you dont want to nullfiy that fantastic score this cycle. Also after your SMP, getting a super high score on the bio part should be a snap and you can take Kaplan over the next summer to brush up on chem and phyics. Besides, if you attend a good SMP you shouldnt even have to take the MCAT again 🙂.
