hello all !! Thank you so much for taking the time to read so here is my story !

I graduated High school in 2005 and had finacial and maturity issues which led to me being put on Academic leave in 2007...here it is 2009 and I am in a community college and have a 3.92 GPa and will transfer back to my original 4 year school to not only pick up where I left off but retake some classes I failed and raise my GPA. During my break I got my Real Estate Liscense and did some heavy volunteering. Being a doctor is a dream of mine but can it be reality. I know for sure that I am going to complete all of my pre med requirements but should I look at a post bacc. program as well even though I should be ready for med school? I am 21 now so I am still fairly young I am going back to get a double major in BioChem and either Political Science or English Literature and hopefully a masters in Public Health...HELP !?!?! I have a passion and drive to fulfill my dreams and will do whatever it takes but will I run into a door that will just not open for me ?!?!

It would help to know your overall GPA including both institutions you've attended.

my overall gpa before I was put on leave was a 2.5 and it was st.peters in nj should i transfer !!! lol

i completed 4 semesters at my orginal four year school and finishing up one semester at the community college so after this semester 5

You need to calculate your overall gpa by combining every grade you have received after high school as well as college credits while in high school.

Use http://www.foothill.edu/transfer/counseling.calc.html or a related gpa calculator.

From that, you can see how many A's you need to obtain the gpa you want. D.O. schools will replace grades if you retake any courses.

Assuming the same number of semester hours each term, your GPA is now up to 2.78. After you complete three more semesters at a 4.0 (not unreasonable, considering how well you did for the fall term) you'd be up to a 3.45 at the end of senior year. One more year of 4.0 would get you to a reasonably competitve 3.56. Get a reasonable MCAT score, apply with the usual extracurriculars, and you definitely have a chance at an admission to allopathic med school. To improve your chances of an admission you can add some ostepathic med schools at the same time. Yes, your dream can become a reality if you keep up the recent excellent academic work.
