Hi guys! I'm in the process of filling out my application for dental school and had a few quick questions.
1) I have taken a research class through my University's Pharmacology department for 2 semesters to obtain course credit for working in a lab 15-20 hours a week and for conducting my research project there. When I was putting up my grades on the application, I noticed that research classes were not listed in the course classification guidelines.
I am wondering whether this would classify as an "other science" course (given that it is biology-oriented research about G-protein coupled receptors) or as a "non-science" course?
2) For the awards, honors, and scholarships section of the application, I had a few questions.
- For 6 semesters, I have received need-based Tuition Scholarships based on my academic standing, for 2 semesters of which the funds were withdrawn from a scholarship fund established by the family of a young woman, a former student of my university, who passed away in an accident. Are these appropriate scholarships to list on my application, or are they inappropriate because they were need-based?
- I know that Dean's List is probably not appropriate to include as an honor, but would inclusion in the university Honors program due to GPA be appropriate? Or would inclusion in the President's List (above 4.0 for 2+ semesters) be appropriate?
3) Sorry, I have one more little question. I volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House through a club for like 6 hours in 2013, and then started volunteering there on a regular schedule just this summer. Would I say that I have volunteered there from 2013-2105, or would I put down that initial few hours of volunteering as community service through the club?
Thanks for any and all of your help, and good luck on your own applications!
