Sorry if these are silly questions, but I'm a little confused about how AMCAS works exactly. I'm planning on applying this June (2010).

1. Would I complete the AMCAS 2010 application? Or is this the one from last year?
2. When exactly does the AMCAS application open so you can start filling it out? I heard something about May... although I know you can't submit it until June 1st.
3. Do you have to fill out the whole application in one sitting? Or can you fill in parts of it, save it, and work on it later before officially submitting it?

Thanks!!!

The application you see right now is for last year. Don't bother filling it out.

I'm not sure on exact dates but you're roughly correct - it opens around April or May.

You can fill it out as much as you want, at any time. It saves.

You can experiment with the current AMCAS application to plan out how you'll list things, like in the Experiences section. But you have to fill out a lot of things before it lets you get to that page. Anything you fill in will disappear when the new season's application becomes available in May.

So, AMCAS must be filled out again each year? For instance, it doesn't carry over from year to year?

Correct. It must be filled out each year (doesn't carry over to the next cycle).
