Every job sucks in its own way. For those of us that aren't in this for the money, we've decided the things that suck about medicine suck less than the things that suck about every other job. And the things we'll enjoy we will enjoy more than most other jobs. Believe it or not, a lot of us aren't in this for the money. 500k in debt sounds awful, but with PAYE, it will never eat up more than a survivable fraction of your income, no matter your specialty.

Medicine is going to be the 11th job I've held in my life. I've seen a great deal of suck in a lot of fields, and let me tell you: there is no greener grass. Every job you think is awesome probably has its soul-crushing bits and things that drive you crazy. So do what provides you with the best balance of something you enjoy with something you can tolerate the downsides of. If you don't think the positives outweigh the negatives of medicine for you, don't go to medical school. No one's stopping you, we don't care. But if you do decide it's what you want to do, quit your bitchin' and get your nose to the grindstone. You picked this path, now deal with it or GTFO of the field.
