buddy of mine and I got into a friendly discussion about who would be picked out the following two candidates:

1. U.S. MD; 50% percentile in class, step 1 222; step 2 not done yet, step 2cs not done yet, high pass one clinical, pass all others

2. Carib MD(U.S. citizen): top 5% in class, step 1 255, step 2 264, step 2cs passed, honor all clinicals

both have good letters, everything else the same, etc. Who would be picked?
 
For what position? What are their histories? These questions are never detailed enough to give even a half-*ss answer.
