Hello Guys/Gals,
What kind of a gift is appropriate for a female Intern (1st year resident)? Preferably something medicine related! Help me out, SND peeps.

Thanks,

Harps

Flowers 😍

Guys this gift is for my sister.....lol....what does a typical Intern need...i mean....medical stuff..iono.

I got my friend who just started her intern yr in IM the book "Ferri's guide" Its pretty useful, and helpful for her to use right now, and cost about $39.99+tax

How about a really nice pen? Check out Tiffany's, I got my sister one there for around $50. It seems like the good docs always have nice pens 🙂

Treg

PS-the little blue box is always appreciated 😀

a date with me 😉

how about a welch allyn harvey dlx double head stethoscope?

Pens tend to get dipped in body fluids or used to test for Babinski on nastola feet. Considering that your sister spends all her time in the hospital, I think she might appreciate something entirely non-medical a lot more. All female interns I know are big fans of spas and massages.

Thanks guys/gals for your suggestions.

Although, I know the poor girl is suffering right now in IM 🙁 ...I don't know if she'll want a massage gift certificate 😕 women are so hard to get gifts for....arrrghhhh...

Lotanna, she already has the Ferri's guide.....

Damn....iono....I think I'll just get her a gift certificate for some store....

btw DW...sorry bud....I'll have to fly over 😉

MEG@Cool: learn to be appropriate (this is NOT the lounge)

Check out http://www.penstrument.com where you can get some nice pens that also are really good EKG calipers. Plus, the calipers won't stab you in the leg while they are in your pocket.

A pen isn't really the best idea. People are always walking off with mine.

well she's probably way too busy to cook, so how about u use the money to order food, pay by credit card over the phone, and have it delivered one of her off days, or better yet u can send flowers and a card another day. Nothing like a surprise imprompto gift.

get her nice bunny shoes she can lounge in after a long day's work..and a set of nice smellling soap etc so that she can soak in it after work

I agree, go with the dildo.

How about something from Victoria's Secret? A gift certificate would be good because then she could go and pick something out herself. And not all of their stuff is so sexy, some of it is pretty tame, but it's feminine and special. Maybe something she might not buy for herself, and so that's why it would be good. Especially if it's your sister, there would be no inapropriateness or anything.

If she has a PDA, a gift certificate for a PDA reference might be appreciated. Skyscape.com has a lot of options.
Or a gift certificate for books. I always see more that I want.

she probably has all the med stuff she needs, or has specific ideas about the stuff she wants next - go with the personal treats - harry and david, victoria's secret, red envelope, a spa day is a great idea!!! get her the things she won't get for herself.

I had bought my Resident a copy of Gray's Anatomy 1st Edition as a gag.

It is superbly illustrated BUT so so so so hard to get through.

Hehehehehe, cause as we all know doctors forget the simplest aspects of anatomy so why not making it HARD for them to study it all over again?

The dude loved the 'gift', it all has to be in context.
He knew where it was coming from.
He was probably one of the coolest dudes to learn from. 👍

Cheers
