On October 5, I received an MCAT back with a score of 35R. The score represents a quantum leap of an improvement over my previous scores, and puts my app in a whole new light IMO. Given how late the score came out, however, I'm inquiring as the appropriate strategy--if any--to pursue now.
My previous scores were 29Q (5/21) and 30R (7/16). The 9/3 test yielded the 35R score.
Before October 5, I was IMO a low-mid tier applicant with a 3.51 (3.88 sci; 4.0 postbac) gpa / 30 MCAT. Now I've got to think I'm a higher-mid candidate who applied very late in the process.
The question is what to do. I didn't explicitly tell schools that I would be taking a third test; but I know they auto-update. I want to ensure that they do in fact re-review my file.
I wrote update letters (emails) to all the schools, but very quickly learned that at most places said letters are not appreciated. (Note: it was an over all update letter including new employment and health care experiences, not just a "check out my new mcat score" letter.)
So, should I call said schools? Should I just sit back and do nothing? Should I be thinking about applying next cycle (not a preferred option) to get the most out of my new score?
I've applied to 35 schools this cycle, have good ECs, currently have two interview invites--both of those are before my latest MCAT. I'm a cali resident.
Any advice appreciated. Thanks,
