Alright, so I've been avoiding this for about 6 months now and I'm pretty sure I should just bite the bullet and go for it.
I decided this last winter that becoming a doctor was what I was supposed to do. Last year[my first year in college] I didn't take any classes that involved pre-med reqs and this fall most of my classes aren't either, my question is [as silly as it is] if I should contact my pre-med advisor and inform them that I am interested in becoming a pre-med student even though I haven't taken many of the right steps yet. I realize as I am writing this that this is a very stupid question to ask because after all an advisor is there to get you on the right path, the only thing that is holding me back is fear.
I want to look and be what my advisor would think is a promising candidate for med school.
I think what is holding me back most is the fact that my major is so opposite to what my future career field is.
I also worry about what my current schedule is set up like.
17.5 credit hours with:
1. Anthropology and Religion - for my Anthropology Minor
2. Human Biology + Lab- for my interest and GE
3. Photography History - for my major
4. Digital imaging- for major
5. Digital Photography- for major
6. Choir- for fun.
7. Art Insights- for my major
Now these all are required minus choir, but would you recommend switching some out for now for more pre reqs, and should I just bite the bullet regardless of what my schedule appears like?
&& one more thing...
My last question would be: Should I also consider Volunteer work? I was planning on it this summer, but the hospital said that they couldn't spend the money on training me for the short amount of time I would be able to volunteer at their hospital.
My only worry about this is that I will over load myself, but I think I could possibly handle it.
I know this is all silly sounding, but I really just need some advice- even if it is harsh. I think anything would help me get going in the right direction. - so with that, have at it. - feel free to make fun of or even bash me, because after all.. I might need it. XD
