I actually saw this program on TV. It was a discovery health show or something. You should see the guy they did the surgery on. He needed a good psychiatrist, not a plastic surgeon. Yikes.

I think we should all write into magazines, newspapers, ect. and ask them to give DOs more exposure or even do an article on DOs. I was thinking about writing into cosmo, glamour and fitness. I'm sure other readers would want to know about it and maybe help with the questions everyone asks- what is a DO? 😉 Just a thought!

Production teams consult DO's frequently for acurate medical drama depictions. In fact, I believe that the largest source of television/media medical information is a company run by DO's.

Networks only consult physicians that have media exposure exp. They also rely on medical broadcasters to convey the info., even though they are not in the profession, because media is about image and most doctors look like a muppet when they are speaking to a camera.

Being involved in the AOA (as much as it hurts some people), in the community and in media are the most likely ways that effective changes will be made.
