Ok so heres my deal. I want to send out my AACOMAS, BUT they have my transcripts that reflect my grades till my Winter quarter. The only grades that are missing are my Spring quarter grades. I can have my school overnight my updated transcripts tomorrow or just submit my AACOMAS now without the spring grades. Should I just submit now since its so late or should I have my transcripts sent since it would look odd without my spring grades?

I was thinking of submitting now and just sending updated transcripts to the schools with my secondaries. What do you think?

Thanks,
dvn

Submit it right now. You are extremely late in the game if you haven't even submitted your AACOMAS application yet. I would probably consider holding off applying at all this cycle due to how late you are, but that is up to you.

I would wait for the spring transcript. Its not that late to get accepted, especially with your numbers. You starting to give up on the MD schools?

anotehr note - if you are serious about possibly pursuing osteopathic medicine than I would do a lot of research about it now. You'll need it for interviews.

Submit now. It will take a while to be verified, submit secondaries, etc.. & you can send updates when you have 'em. I agree w/above post by Dr. Kuba - know why you want to go DO and be able to talk about it - they will ask. Good luck!! :luck:

I sent you a PM ealier today. Submit your AACOMAS now, and when your spring transcripts comes out, submit that to AACOMAS and the schools. Hmm...unless you mean that they were your previous Spring grades. In that case, send your AACOMAS and send the spring transcript ASAP

The DO program is a great program and I hope you have much luck on both sides. You definitely have the determination. Don't let the process break your spirit DrVN!

im confused... teh spring grades are from a while ago and are ready, right?
Your are not waiting for them to come out...or else wouldnt that be fall grades?😕

Hey thanks for the responses everyone 🙂

I am referring to my Spring 2006 grades, I have my AACOMAS finished, but they have my Transcripts from the winter of 2005. I have about 16 quarter credits on my spring 2006 transcript that I would like reflected, but not sure how much delay there would be. So with that said, should I just wait for them to get my spring 2006 grades to submit or just go ahead and submit?

As for researching osteopathic medicine---that is what I have been doing for the past few months. I've read the AOA site, AACOM site, talked to various students at CCOM, visited CCOM as well, and have talked to a lot of osteopathic physicians. I think I have a good background in it now. One of the main reasons I didn't apply early was because I didn't know about the philosophy and I know that would be reflected in interviews.

Thanks again everyone.

P.S. HoD, am in the process of responding to PM 🙂~

HOD - I see you got in off the wait list at WVU today - nice going! Glad to know you have SOMEwhere to go next year..... 😉

Dr. VN - Definitely get that application in now, there's still time! And FYI, just when I gave up and decided to apply to PA schools, I got my first acceptance to DMUCOM - so - hang in there! :luck:

Grats on DMU, you are definitely an inspiration :luck: I have a few friends who graduated from DMU and loved it, I am sure you will as well. 😀

Submit now. AACOMAS takes a long time to let you know they've received your transcripts. If you ordered them already, AACOMAS may have them and you just don't know it yet.

Best of luck Dr. V! :luck: We're all rooting for you! :luck: :luck: :luck:

DrVN, I reread your post. Submit ASAP if you are done, but they won't look at it until all transcripts are in anyway, so overnight the transcipts too. So do both!

Hey dvn,

I submitted my primary application on saturday and had my mcat scores sent then as well. I requested my transcript be sent on monday to aaocom so I'm just as late. I learned about DO schools at the umdnj open house last year as I was looking at all the NJ state schools, but never really researched it until a couple months ago. I hope to read the book "The DOs" and get to shadow a DO early next semester hopefully so I will have more experience with the philosophy when I interview.

I'm applying to umdnj, pcom and nycom.

Best of luck! I see that you picked your schools in term of location.

The DOs is a good history of osteopathy (and written as thesis work from someone from my alma mater, norman gevitz!). i read that and Gallagher's (UMDNJ) Reformation in Progress which was more on practical future issues facing DOs. i brought The DOs 2 my interview 2 brush up on stuff and ended up mentioning/talking about it w/ my interviewer (who also asked me about my research and i had no idea til afterwards that she worked on similar research, whoops). she was a phd (and 1 of the 1st yr profs) but her hubby is a DO. read the book cuz at every DO interview i had, i always got the WHY DO? question and it helps 2 understand where DOs came from/r going 2 answer that Q. good luck w/ the applic cycle. i know someone who applied i think in feb and got in (though this person's stats were pretty high).
