Just my two cents.
We had this AI joining us on service recently (in fact, the hospital for the first time). I on the other hand have been on the service for 2 weeks and have done all my rotations so far at the hospital. Technically, I would know how things run around here and how things are recorded. Yadayadayada. Because he has seniority over me, he feels that he has the needs to educate me in anyway possible to grade grub.
What's even worse is that he does so in such a condescending way with the "yaaaaaqaaaaaaaaa, you know, you have to do that in order to be efficient".

Well, on the 2nd day, he commented on a signout that he thought I wrote when we were sitting together in the break room. Again, he began his little lecture about what he thinks is important for the chief complaint and what should be recorded.
Little did he know that the junior resident wrote that signout. It had my life on it because I printed it out. Well, she heard his little lecture word for word.
After he left to be more "helpful", the resident said to me, "who the **** he thinks he is? I ain't gonna give him a decent eval at all"

Ever notice how everyone on here is so insightful about things that OTHER people are doing that shouldn't be done and yet they're totally oblivious to their own stupidity? Yeah, I did, too.

Oh the irony in that post. Are you having symptoms of irony overload, sir?
I am judging someone based on the 2 days of real-life interaction with that person and the team and I agreed that the guy is an *******.
You are judging someone based on their posts on a internet forum and you think you are insightful enough to think that they are totally oblivious to their own stupidity... based on what? a couple sentences they wrote? Ain't life mysterious.

No, I'm not having irony overload. I'm observing that you sound like a major tool. I thought you'd get that, but I guess not. Meanwhile, have fun pretending that you're this great student who is here to tell everyone how to be a great student.

This is all I could think while reading this too.

Thank you, third year, for showing us fourth years what modesty is all about.

Now, go fetch me the latest H&H on this 90 y/o with GI bleeds ... oh, and a Fukitol, too.

It's people like you that make me hate clinical year, all the passive aggressiveness. At least the other dude is straightforward.

It's a shame when this kind of relationship goes poorly, because it really is a role of the 4th year to educate the 3rd years. You can be a huge asset to the junior students if you are there to show them how to get crap done on the floor, where to find the key info, how to present, key pimp questions to be ready for, etc, etc, etc. It's when that helpful mentor role turns into a condescending senior role that you get into trouble. All the fourth years need to check themselves and remember where they were a year ago. I was having serious flashbacks hearing the third years do their first real presentations on rounds a week ago, and I remembered what a stressful time that was. Try to make life easier for the 3rd years. They will love you, and the team will function more smoothly making everyone look better.
