Hey all!

I'm a little worried. I'm down to 5 DO schools and I haven't heard from any of them yet!! I haven't heard from NYCOM, NOVA, or NJ. I still have to turn in secondaries for the other 2 schools (Pikeville and LECOM). I turned in NOVA and NJ back in Nov./Dec. and NYCOM told me to hang tight because they are still reviewing. But really guys, for anyone whose gone through this process, am I just waiting for a rejection letter?.... 🙁

Tonight I started freaking out a little because I got an e-mail regarding the podiatry program at Rosalind Frankling University and I actually started to consider it. Sad part is I never even thought about that road it until the e-mail which tells me that I'm feeling incredibly desperate to start my med school life in any way I can!!!! (not bashing podiatry in any way so please don't take offense out there 🙂 )

Some support please :scared:

well what are your stats?

NYCOM started to interview very late. Since you only applied to 5 schools, all you can do right now is to wait. This process is very crazy. It gets crazier as it comes to Feb or March. I hope your numbers are OK.

Ahh yes, I should have put up my numbers, my mistake. Ok, well here's the kicker guys, I'm not exactly the best candidate here.

MCAT: 22N

6BS 8V 8PS

Ave. GPA: 3.3
Science GPA: 2.7

I'm a post-bac student with mostly A's and B's. I also have 280 hours of community service and I am currently doing research. I really hate to admit that I may have to spend yet another year beefing up my stats and re-taking the MCAT so I'm hoping against all hope that something comes my way soon.

I'd turn in that secondary to LECOM asap. They have a SUCCESSFUL applicant MCAT average of 23, so you should be right there. Also, I know that they still have some spots left. Good luck to you.

you sent the secondaries to to NOVA and NJ too late and you did not sent the secondaries to LECOM and Pikeville yet.
why is taking you so long to do samething is very important to you and to your future?
you should be freaking out month ago.
you MCAT is good and I think you will be ok. but do yourself faver and send the secandaries today not tomorrow.
good luck.

To be honest, your MCAT Bio score might be holding you back. That, added with the low science gpa might re-affirm that your science back ground is weak. I am no expert, but that was my observation.

try pcom-ga i got interviewed with a 23 there 2 weeks after i turned in my secondary, lecom-fl REJECTED ME, but pcom hasn't said nething yet, and i know pcom-ga started their interview process later than most schools

i'll assume you have recieved no interviews yet? maybe some letters of intent, or updated information from any current classes, or med related stuff you are doing?

if you really want this, go out there and get it!!!!!! good luck.

Have you perhaps thought of attending a foreign medical school? 25% of US physicians are from foreign medical schools - or so I've heard.

VCOM's secondary deadline isn't until March if you want to try and apply there as well... other than that... GOOD LUCK, get your secondaries out as soon as possible!

First of all, it never hurts to apply to a few other schools. If you're willing to do podiatry then, by all means, you should submit the application and consider it. If you're willing to try foreign medical schools, you should also submit applications for it. They are just options and more opportunities you're giving yourself. It does mean a little more money, but it's a good investment. WE ALL LOVE OPPORTUNITIES!

As for NYCOM, when did you submit a supplementary for them? It takes approximately a little over one month for them to review and send out a letter inviting you for an interview. NYCOM also started interviews late, so they're a bit backlogged. Like many others have advised, I really urge you to send in your secondaries before the weekend comes. I'll be willing to proof them for you if you want.

Don't feel discouarged if any of the admissions staff are curt, they're just really busy. Seriously, keep your head up! Forge onward! The race isn't over so don't give up! Good luck!

If you don't have an acceptance yet why are you holding on to secondaries? You need to turn them in as soon as possible. You will stand a chance at LECOM. If you don't get in this year you can retake a couple of your science classes to raise that science GPA. Your MCAT is fine for DO schools. If you indeed need to reapply this sumer, make sure you turn your primary applications in the FIRST day AACOMAS opens up. Make sure to turn in ALL your secondary apps as you get them. Don't be selective with secondary apps. Why would you pay for their primary applications to decide not to turn in their secondaries? You can only be selective once you have an acceptance in hand. I turned mine in in May and I think that really helped me getting my acceptances. Good luck.
