I was wondering if double majoring has an affect on those who look at your application. Does double majoring really say anything? Minoring?

e.g. bio&eng.. or like bio&art

ALSO.. on a scale of 1 to 10 how much do extracurriculars matter to dental schools?

At the end of the day what really matters are good grades, If you decide to double major or get a minor, do it because YOU WANT TO, not because you think ADCOMs will like it.

As for ECs, I can't tell you where they fall on the totem pole, but I can tell you being a MEMBER of a club is NOT the same as being a LEADER.

I dont think it matters at all, get a good GPA and your in as long as your DAT scores are ok.

I would think for sure they won't think anything bad of it... I'm at USC and a lot of the dental students are like Bio + something (business/international relations/art)... Our pre-health advisor once sent out a Newsweek article about med school accepting more non-science majors so I guess it could go for dent school as well?

I had the same question last year. I talked to some adcoms at UOP and Case and they said double majors do not help you stand out. Just getting good grades in the classes you take will be better for you (like most people have said)
Many dentists say they wish they took more business classes in college. so maybe a business minor would help you.
