Your list is fine. You're competitive at any school in the nation. Being the captain of a D1 Soccer Team is HUGE! That sets you apart from most other applicants with high numbers. To be able to excel Academically and Athletically at that high a level is an accomplishment that won't go unnoticed. I think you'll get into to most of the schools in the top tier of your list. I wouldn't be at all surprised if you got into one of the very top schools, such as Harvard or JHU. (maybe a little surprised if you didn't).

Agreed - I'd probably cut out a few of the lower tiered schools to be honest.

Thanks guys!
How many schools in total do you think is a good number to apply to? I'm thinking about 20? Does that sound about right>??

20 should be very good for you.

in a speech from the interim dean of admissions at umich med (Dr. Gay) said they really embrace athletes who balanced both school and athletics, and mentioned that he was a varsity football player at yale

good luck!

honestly, I'd shave a few. But if you have the time and money to do it then apply to 20, but with your numbers and EC's, you should be thinking about parrying down your list based on the schools that fit best for you. Trust me you will have several acceptances to chose from. But every advisor I've talked to says the data show that applying to more than 15 schools doesn't enhance your chances. Pick 5 top 10 schools you love, pick 5 top 10-50 schools you love. pick 5 lower-tier schools you love.

You should be thinking about what you want. You've done amazing work. Be confident. You are a stellar candidate.

Geography, curriculum of program, strength in specialties you are interested in. All your schools should have qualities you like.

Some of us don't have that liberty. We'll take who ever takes us. You are not us. You will have several to choose from.
