if i select to take 4 pass fails classes out of 32 that arent part of my premed requirements or major will med school think im a slacker? especially if i also do dance which is credit fail. so all in all out of 32 courses in my 4 years at college. id be only talking prob 26 for credit?

i want to do my pass fail classes when i take orgo and when i take more than once science in a semester so i can focus on my sci grades

You might hinder your chances of being awarded scholarships at your school, as well as consideration for Phi Beta Kappa. P/F is supposed to be used sparingly...if you're going to take orgo P/F, I would suggest that you consider taking it at a community college or during the summer for credit to get exposure to it before taking it for a grade. Basically, you can't get something for nothing...even P/F

sorry, reading quickly before lunch and misinterpreted your P/F about orgo. Basically, P/F means that you could've had anything from a D to an A to get you the P. When you're in medical school, you're going to have a huge workload in addition to balancing out your life...so med schools want to see that you can take on a lot and still do well. I would maybe consider doing only 1 P/F, perhaps during your orgo semester.

best of luck

Only take a class pass/fail if a grade option is not given. It is tempting to take a class pass/fail when you are taking orgo and physics, but it certainly shows weakness. I would advise against it.

but i havent read anywhere that it is bad. only place that ive read was on baylor's web site. i nkow it is weakness but do med school care? i mean as far as i know these are our opinions and med shcools cept baylor dont give a crap

if it's an unimportant throw-away class you're doing just for the experience or whatever, go ahead and take it pass/fail. you shouldn't have like 10 pass/fail classes on your transcript, and you obviously shouldn't take premed requirements pass/fail, but you can have a few pass/fail on classes like "marxism 101" or "wealth redistribution in social justice 101".

i had one pass/fail class on speech that i took just for the hell of it. i can almost guarantee that it wasn't "frowned upon" and it didn't negatively affect my application. i'm almost laughing at the stupid notion that it would.

one a year is not too bad. and uhhh, i got phi beta kappa, to address the 2nd poster.

not really. just as long as you fall under the limits your college has for you in taking p/f classes.
